Im Chronicle of Higher Education wurde gestern von Testballons an US-Universitäten berichtet. Dort wurde versucht, mit der Vergabe von digitalen Abzeichen (aka Badges) Lehrende zu bewegen, verstärkt an Fortbildungen zur Lehre teilzunehmen. Mit den Abzeichen sollen die TeilnehmerInnen individuell nachweisen können, dass sie sich mit einem bestimmten Thema auseinandergesetzt haben, dass sie eine bestimmte Fähigkeit erworben haben, usw.
An der Kent State University wurden rund 500 Badges in insgesamt zwölf Workshops vergeben, davon aber nur 150 abgerufen, um sie anderen zu zeigen. Ob das ein hoher oder niedriger Anteil ist, lässt sich schwer sagen. Sind sie wertlos? An der University of Central Florida geht man davon aus, dass es lediglich davon abhänge, wer hinter den Abzeichen stecke. Wäre die ausgebende Institution im Kreise der Lehrenden anerkannt und würde geschätzt, hätten auch die Badges einen Wert.
Was das mit der Basisqualifizierung zu tun haben soll? Das Zertifikat, das wir am Ende ausgeben, ist im Prinzip nichts anderes als ein (digitales) Abzeichen und sagt genauso viel oder so wenig aus. Was würdet ihr als TeilnehmerInnen sagen, wenn wir es einfach wegließen? Wäre das für euch ein Grund, nicht an der Basisqualifizierung teilzunehmen? Oder andersherum: Was würdet ihr ergänzend oder alternativ von Badges halten, die nicht am Ende gesammelt, sondern zeitnah für einzelne Abschnitte oder Leistungen vergeben werden können?

Anmerkung eines Teilnehmers aus dem aktuellen Durchgang der Basisqualifizierung: „Für wen brauche ich das Zertifikat? Ich bin doch freiwillig hier.“
Der Sinn wurde aber im Anschluss erklärt: In diesem Fall hat das Zertifikat schon seinen Sinn. Es schadet nicht, wenn man dieses Blatt Papier irgendwo liegen hat, falls man es später einmal im Rahmen einer Einstellung brauchen sollte.

Ergänzung: Ich habe erst während der Teilnahme Kenntnis davon erlangt, dass wir am Ende ein Zertifikat (ggf. auch anerkannt werden kann) erhalten werden. Ihr scheint sowieso nicht viel Werbung mit diesem Zertifikat zu machen, sondern mehr mit Inhalten (finde ich gut).
